We ended the school year with lots of activities. But, first things first...we had to tell the kids about going to Disney World...in just 3 weeks! We made the reservations in January, but had kept it a secret from them. At the beginning of the month, we set up a little scavenger hunt at home with clues that ended in the discovery of gift bags for each of them. The bags contained Disney hats and brochures for Disney World. I think they were in too much shock to show much emotion...
Bethany completed her soccer season, despite the rain. Check out the picture of her scoring her first goal! We got her a soccer cookie cake for the last game. Bethany made the Dr. Seuss hat at school...she looked so cute in it when she got off the bus. In the picture, though, she has bequeathed the hat to her sister. Bethany's first grade teacher offered all kinds of incentives for good behavior in the classroom. The big reward that Bethany chose was a bedtime story from her teacher, Ms. Brewer. Of course, "Peanut" was involved, too. Caroline and I are pictured at "Muffins with Mom", the Mother's Day breakfast at her school.
Grammy came up for Caroline's preschool graduation, and brought new water toys for the girls....a penguin and a dolphin, no less! Graduation from Kidcare Preschool was once again a special ceremony with pomp and circumstance, and each child recognized on stage. Caroline was announced as the official "best friend" of her class. She's also our resident princess who attended yet another friend's princess birthday party.
Bethany's end of school Learning Celebration was the last week of school. She was declared the official class "penguin scientist" and also a very hard worker. She enjoyed showing off her sister to her class all year long. On the last day of school, first-graders wore PJ's. Since this is Bethany's last year at Bennett Elementary, I took a picture with her favorite teacher, Ms. Caughey - who has made art class so fun and memorable these last two years. We were re-zoned for a different school, so both girls will start McNeil Elementary at the end of August.
Papaw came to Dallas for a wedding, so we caught a quick visit at Uncle Clay's house before heading off to Disney World!
