Happy 5th Birthday, Caroline!
April is always a busy month for us with birthday, holidays and school activities. This year was no exception. We had a fun time at our Bible Fellowship family picnic. The kids were ready to hunt Easter eggs! Caroline found herself on TV for her 5th birthday, thanks to Uncle Clay. Caroline's love of dolphins carried over into her birthday this year and we had a great party with Caroline's church and preschool friends. The kids made crafts, learned about dolphins and did the "Fishy" dance. Mostly, they just played with each other. We were thankful for Uncle Clay and Oma's help with all the kiddos. B-r-r-r-r! we had a cold Easter. So the Easter Bunny made an indoor visit while we were at church. Caroline even found "bunny fur" as evidence that he had come....plus all the eggs and candy! We dyed Easter eggs and made cookies for Caroline's birthday at school. Whew! That was a busy weekend!
Most of you know the "quarter" story. Caroline was in childcare during "big" church on March 4. She took a quarter that day for offering, but the quarter never found the plate. She was playing with it, put it in her mouth and accidentally swallowed it. She immediately told an adult in the room what had happened; fortunately, she didn't choke on it, but it did scare her. We took her for an x-ray that afternoon and were told that the quarter would "pass" in a few days. 38 days, 5 x-rays, 5 doctor/specialist visits and many "inspections" later, we found ourselves in the GI lab at Medical City preparing for endoscopic removal. No worries, all is well, but that was one expensive quarter! Noting the before/after picture, a quarter does not fare too well in hydrochloric stomach acid for over a month. Hmmm...might make an interesting science project some day!
To complete the month, Caroline gets dolled up at a friend's "Girly Girl" party, Bethany and Schuyler work on a "recycle" project for school, Bethany takes the training wheels off her bike and is a riding machine now, we all go with Bethany to a roller skating party (remember those?), and Bethany goes to her friend, Grace's, house for her first sleepover.
