January 2007
Happy
7th Birthday, Bethany!!
2007 Started quickly for our family. After ringing in the new year with some sparklers, Schuyler and Bethany made a quick weekend trip to Oakmont, PA, to visit family there. Aunt Joan and Uncle Bob took Bethany to the Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum on Saturday. With Bethany's birthday approaching, Alyssa gave Bethany a present... a penguin backpack. You may remember pictures from prior visits, where Grandpa would read to Bethany. It is the other way around, now. We were able to spend some good time visiting and were glad for the opportunity to get up there. The last picture is of Bethany on the return trip, pulling her penguin rollerbag with her penguin backpack with another penguin sticking out of it. Is it possible to have too many penguins?
Right before Bethany's birthday, her school, Bennett Elementary, held family bingo night. With Poppop, Uncle Kenton and Aunt Kerry in town for her party, Schuyler and Lindsey got the night off.
On January 20 (aka Bethany's birthday and Penguin Awareness Day), we held Bethany's 7th Birthday party, and it was an award winning penguin party. A fun time was had by all, especially Uncle Clay and Uncle Kenton as a snowball fight (with paper ball snowballs) expanded into a full-scale wrestling match.
Finally, Schuyler had the opportunity to visit Fort Benning on an educational business trip. Shown are a Stryker vehicle, a Bradley fighting vehicle, and Schuyler trying out one of the weapons on hand. I even got to see my first TOW missile shot, with the missile being guided by an ITAS system that is built by Raytheon in McKinney.
