December 2006
'Tis the season....to be busy and this year was no exception. Who would have thought we'd have snow on the last day of November?!? It was just enough for the kids to play in and have a snowball fight with their friend, Jake. The annual party at Raytheon has become a tradition for all of us, and the girls look forward to the same activities every year, especially the penguin tatoos!
We finally made it to the Children's Parade in downtown Dallas. We picked up Uncle Clay and Aunt Robyn on the way down. In the rush to get out the door, I forgot coats(!) and we had to borrow from Robyn...that's why the girls look so "rag tag"! They had so much fun seeing all of their favorite characters, along with the bands, dancers and clowns. We are deinitely going try to make it next year. On the same day of the parade was our Bible Fellowship class Christmas party. With all the kids at church, we had a nice time getting to know many new people in our class and visiting with old friends.
We spent the second weekend in December in Angleton with Schuyler's family at his brother's house. We shared Christmas with his family and celebrated Kenton's 30th birthday a little early. The girls had fun decorating the "fort". The brothers stared in "amazement" at a magic tree that was supposed to grow in 6 hours or less. Kenton showed us how to play his Playstation "Guitar Hero" game...for us non-guitar players, the electric guitar simulation had a very real-feel. The girls stared in shock at first at this strange behavior coming from the adults as the inner "rocker" was brought out in anyone who played! While Kenton was completely engrossed in being a guitar hero, some of his high school students slipped in the door, set up their ensemble and played him their own version of "Happy Birthday". Kenton was truly surprised...and so were the rest of us who didn't know it was coming. More friends came over for a party that night to celebrate the "Flying Dutchman's" big 3-0!
Back at home, we played in leaf piles, made a cake for Daddy's birthday and had Mr. Tim over.
