Merry
Christmas!!!
2006
The girls are looking very big in the Christmas card picture this year. I captured these shots one evening when Schuyler was out of town and the Christmas mailing deadline was very imminent!
Lindsey's dad and step-mom drove up from San Antonio for Christmas weekend. The girls enjoyed all kinds of projects and the attention of eager game players! The gingerbread house was an all-inclusive kit from the grocery store and the first time we had attempted anything of its kind. Papaw took on the challenge of the icing tube and the final result was "sweet"! Grandma brought her Santa cookies to decorate with the girls, who did every step of the process themselves. They turned out great...and were very yummy. We also drove to Frisco to see the Christmas light "extravaganza" (Bethany's word of choice). Check out this website that talks about the house and how the lights are synchronized to music. It was quite the spectacle and made all other lights appear rather "boring"!
Clay, Robyn, and her family joined us for Christmas Eve. We enjoyed so much food, good company and even survived the cold, rainy weather for the candlelight service at Cottonwood Creek. We opened presents with Clay and Robyn that night and then the girls became very busy getting ready for Santa. Bethany wrote a letter, including specific directions on the location of Clifford's stocking and what to put in it. She assembled the Santa snack, which included a Santa cookie, of course. Caroline put reindeer food on the lawn for Rudolph. They both presented the letter and snack to everyone, then finally set it by the fireplace for the night.
As soon as the girls woke up Christmas morning (7:00...not too bad), they were into their stockings and the gifts Santa left. Clifford's stocking even had toys in it. That Santa! We held them off from the rest of the presents while we all ate breakfast and got dressed before the next round. Then the flurry of gift-opening began! Bethany's favorite present of the morning....a slinky! Caroline really liked her princess make-up. The tap-dancing Mumbles were a big hit, and we will not soon forget Grandma's new watch...wow.
The girls headed back to San Antonio on Tuesday with Papaw and Grandma, so Schuyler and I enjoyed a quiet, peaceful week at home catching up on projects and work. We spent New Year's weekend in Austin where we picked up the girls and had Christmas with Lindsey's mom. We also had a quick visit with her grandmother in Georgetown on our way home Monday.
