Happy 4th Birthday, Caroline!
This is always a busy month for us...lots of birthdays and other Easter events going on. Caroline enjoyed dressing up as a princess for a friend's birthday party. The dress is actually her flower girl dress for a wedding last summer!
We had so much fun at the Dallas Auto Show last year, we had to go back! The kids had a great time climbing all over their favorite vehicles and Schuyler enjoyed getting up close and personal with high-dollar sports cars.
The annual Raytheon Egg Hunt was the morning of Caroline's birthday party. Schuyler's parents and Uncle Will were with us for the event. It is always a highlight of the year and something his company has been doing long before we arrived. In recent years, they've added the bounce houses, which our kids absolutely LOVE!
Caroline talked about her "Chicken Little birthday" from the day she walked out of the theater in November having just seen the Chicken Little movie. We invited her friends from school and church over to our house for crafts, games and cake to celebrate. Even after all that I had planned, the kids had the most fun with Uncle Will's impromptu wagon rides in the back yard!
Easter comes with lots of activity around here. Caroline's preschool class made bunny noses for their egg hunt at school. At home, we decorated sugar cookies and dyed eggs...note the "car" eggs we made. It's always more fun if it has something to do with wheels! Bethany lost her first tooth on the night before Easter, prompting a visit from the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny on the same night. :)
Schuyler and I enjoyed a much-needed long weekend vacation for some R&R in the Ozarks. We stayed at the Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, just outside Branson. We drove up on Friday - a 7-hour trip that took us through OK and AR. At a gas stop in NW Arkansas, we were amused by the row of vending machines that included live bait! At the same stop, we were asked to take a picture of a prize wild turkey! The trip was less comical after that little adventure. On Saturday, we went biking, canoeing and explored the grounds of the resort. On Sunday, we went to Silver Dollar City - we enjoyed demos by the local artisans, strolling the marketplace, a wild roller coaster ride and a rugged tour of spectacular Marvel Cave. We biked more on Monday, but were rained in most of the afternoon...no worries, this trip was supposed to be for rest anyway! We headed home on Monday to jump right back into the fast-lane...aka as our everyday life!
