As Hurricane Rita was poised to strike the Gulf Coast, we were left to wonder what would happen to Schuyler's hometown of Lake Charles, LA. Kenton and Kerry boarded up their home in Angleton, TX, and fled to Houston for a night before heading to Lake Charles. Once in Lake Charles, Rita decided to follow them and the anticipated point of landfall moved east. On Thursday, 22 Sep, Kenton & Kerry and Grammy & Poppop headed to Shreveport, LA, to stay with some friend's relatives. It was a seven hour trip that sent them east to Lafayette before heading north to Shreveport. While there is no good direct route to Shreveport from Lake Charles, the route through Lafayette would not normally be the best choice, but the other roads were known to be clogged.
Will left town late on 23 Sep. To the left are some pictures taken by Will before leaving town. Apparently a second tree fell near Will's home and he decided to get out while he could.
