November
2004
There may have been less pictures this month,. but that doesn't mean we slowed down any. The girls are enjoying school. Caroline runs into her classroom now with hardly a wave goodbye and no tears. She knows the names of her teachers and classmates...yes, she is talking up a storm. Bethany is absorbing her phonics lessons like a sponge. Of course, her preschool class is still all about having fun, but her veteran teacher manages to "trick" them into learning during the process.
Caroline's favorite bed buddies still rank in the same priority: thumb, pillow, "dolpin" (pictured)...her Care Bear and "seal" are also hidden in there somewhere! It may be November, but on this particular day it is warm enough to wear new outfits from Grammy and Poppop's trip to Hawaii! Caroline loves to play "hide-and-seek", only she always hides in her favorite spot - behind our dirty clothes hamper. I don't know what she's thinking...PU!
Bethany performed in the annual school Thanksgiving "Finger Food Feast". The kids are excited about spotting their parents in the audience. This picture was taken before three rows of kids filed in front of Bethany and all we could see were her eyes and hat. Caroline is becoming a good helper in the kitchen...she's good at helping sample the dough! The girls pose with their "gobble-gobble" turkey hats. Caroline loves to point to her artwork and say "I made that!" She has quite the vocabulary these days and can identify everything on her door. Between school and 2 different classes on Sunday, she has quite the project portfolio...they are also displayed on her closet door. Bethany shows off her artwork as well...some of these are from school, but some are also her own creations at home. She has free access to paper, markers, scissors and glue to let her imagination run wild!
We traveled to Lake Charles, LA to spend Thanksgiving with Schuyler's family this year. The girls had fun getting lots of attention from grandparents, uncles and an aunt-to-be (Kenton's fiancé, Kerry). Grammy's sewing machine has been ablazin' in the last few weeks...the girls pose in new bathrobes and winter outfits. The dress-up clothes were a hit, courtesy of an elderly friend from church. Don't worry, we came home with the whole sack of clothes, so they'll show up again. A trip to Grammy's house would not be complete without feasting on plenty of home-baked goodies and of course, decorating cookies! Caroline even got into the action this year.
Daddy helped Poppop setup the new Christmas yard decoration. Wow! The girls kept trying to figure out how to climb inside, when they weren't tripping over the guidewires. You never know what crazy Uncle Will is up to...this year, he has mini-choppers to play with (part of Discovery's "American Chopper" craze). The big kids get to take a spin, but the girls just get to sit. However, it looks more proportional for Bethany's size than a grown man!
After the Turkey Day feast, we all end up back at Uncle Will's (more chopper action). Bethany is fired up about spending the night there with her uncles and Kerry. Back at Grammy's house, Caroline enjoys free reign of all the toys by herself. (Mommy enjoys the peacefulness - no siblings fighting!).
We returned to McKinney late Saturday evening to "rest up" before getting back into the groove on Monday...
