September 2004
Summer has officially come to an end, though you wouldn't know it by the weather. We closed out Labor Day weekend with homemade ice cream, which the girls are enjoying in the playhouse.
Both the girls are in "school" this year. Caroline is in a MDO class 2 days a week and Bethany is in Pre-K 3 days a week. We returned to San Antonio the 2nd weekend in Sept for another Sea World/Hyatt resort mini-vacation...we had so much fun the first time, we had to do it again. On the way down, we had a picnic dinner, riverside at Marble Falls. We spent a night at Papaw and Grandma's place, then headed to the hotel via a quick tour of Papaw's hangar and lunch. Tubin' and S'mores Friday night, then an attack on Sea World Saturday. Grammy and her sweet friend, Donna from Lake Charles joined us for the weekend. We hit all our favorites - the kiddie coaster, the Dolphin show and feeding at Dolphin Cove, the penguins, the sea lion show...and the girls' picked up new friends, Shamu and 'Dolpin', thanks to Grammy. We had loads of fun at the waterpark on Sunday, then Papaw joined for more tubin' and swimmin' Sunday night. On the way home on Sunday, we stopped for lunch in Georgetown to check out Lindsey's grandmother's (Ninny) new set of wheels...pretty smooth for the golfing granny!
The Plano Balloon Festival is becoming an annual tradition ('02, '03) for us...this year Uncle Clay and Robyn joined us for the fun, which was a little warmer than previous years. Since the winds were out of the south, we saw nearly all 37 balloons in the air at the same time! As usual, we stuck around for the after-dark balloon glow. Spectators were allowed on the field, so we went for an up-close look...Bethany was not very thrilled about the loud, hot fires under each balloon. Maybe we won't do that next year...
