  Christmas in Lake Charles

Bethany was excited to help decorate for Christmas this year.  She helped put some of the ornaments on the tree one evening.  She placed most of them on the lowest branches, so I moved several that night after she was in bed to even out the distribution.  If there was any doubt in your mind, never fear...she did notice they had been moved the next morning.

Bethany's friend, Mackenzie, comes over for a play date every now and then.  I gave each of the girls their own chapstick, and I soon found they had assembled themselves for a "lipstick" party.  Notice that none of them is actually putting it on their lips.  Bethany's putting it on her face, Caroline's eating it, and Mackenzie is trying to figure out if she should join them!  The girls all grabbed their purses to head to the playground next!

Raytheon again sponsored an area-wide Christmas party this year.  The evening was c-c-c-cold, so we bundled up.  Caroline wasn't sure what to think of her mittens...or her first bounce house.  The train ride was fun, but frigid...we headed inside quickly after that.  Similar to previous years, they had entertainment and crafts for the kids.  Back outside, the girls thought the "hayride taxi" to the remote parking lot was fun!

For his birthday, Schuyler took the morning off and we all drove down to North Park Mall in Dallas to see the model train display, and ride in another kiddie train. For the big 3-1, Schuyler recaptured a bit of his youth with a racecar cake.  Actually, Bethany ordered a "racecar" birthday for Daddy months ago, so Mommy was willing to oblige.

The next evening, Oma, Uncle Clay and Aunt Robyn came over for an early Christmas dinner and gifts.  Caroline was very much in the action this year and learned quickly how to open all of her presents.  Bethany thought EVERYONE needed help opening their presents.

The festivities for me continued as I married off my college roommate, Ria, on the 20th.  Oma stayed in town to help with the girls, and they all came to the wedding on Saturday afternoon.  Caroline was not quite sure at first about the identity of the lady in the black dress with her hair up that kind of looked like Mommy.  But as soon as I said something, she was quickly convinced.  Most of you will recognize the "original" 4 roommates (me, Ria, Melissa, Tara).  The picture of all the kids are 3 of the bridesmaids in our normal role - The Mommy!  Bethany and Caroline loaded up on cookies, cake and candy at the reception.  And I indulged in one of my favorite treats as well...baklava!
