We're off and running in July...in fact, we had to get a head start! The pictures on this page actually start the last weekend in June. We drove to Austin to attend Lindsey's grandmother's 80th birthday celebration. Lindsey, Bethany and Caroline stayed to spend the week with Oma, while Schuyler returned to McKinney to work on projects around the house and do real work a few days at the office.
Lindsey and the girls had a wonderful week in Oma's backyard paradise. This year's dolphin pool was a big hit with the girls. We played and played, and ate lots of ice cream. Lindsey and Bethany went to the neighborhood swimming pool several times (sorry, no photos) and Bethany practiced everything she learned from swim lessons. One day, Lindsey and Bethany went downtown to the Texas State History museum. Bethany had the most fun with the 3 flights of stairs in the lobby! She also saw her very first movie in a theater......a really, really big movie! The museum houses the only IMAX theater in Austin. We saw Texas: The Big Picture - Bethany's favorite remembrance from the movie was the kids riding on sheep (mutton bustin'?). During one trip to the playground, we got stuck in a downpour. We found a pavilion for shelter, but let the girls run out to play in the rain. Why not? Bethany wasn't so sure about the thunder....
Back at home for the Fourth, Bethany helped Daddy paint the bookshelves he'd made for her while he had the house to himself. We went to our church picnic to watch fireworks...again, more loud noises Bethany didn't quite like. But she DID like the live music at the picnic....she danced and danced with other little friends in front of the stage, and kept dancing when all her friends left. We actually didn't see much of her until it got dark.
Caroline is still trying to figure out the bookshelves. Her latest trick involves climbing into the kitchen chairs to get things off the table. Look out, Mommy, it's not safe there anymore!
